November 3, 2009
1:00 p.m.
Tours Sign, Great Hall
Free with Museum admission

While the main galleries are temporarily closed for renovation, it is still possible to enjoy an overview of Islamic Art, which highlights works dating from the 7th century forward, reflecting the diversity and range of Islamic culture.

This tour offers visitors the opportunity to explore Islamic art, focusing on the Metropolitan's outstanding holdings of manuscripts, ceramics, and textiles from all parts of the classical Islamic world, as well as glass and metalwork from Egypt, Syria, Mesopotamia, and Iran. Miniatures from the royal courts of Persia and Mughal India will be included, as well as 16th- and 17th-century carpets.
